Dayvon Stroupe, 21, was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole Friday for his role in Vincent Amaya’s killing.
Stroupe, co-defendant Shaquille Huston and two unidentified assailants arrived at Florin Meadows Apartments on Nov. 17, 2014 to buy marijuana from Amaya. The men pulled guns on Amaya, 18, and took the marijuana before one of the assailants – it’s not clear who – fatally shot him in the torso.
Stroupe and Huston, 22, were convicted of first-degree murder in November with a special circumstance of committing the murder during the course of a robbery. Huston will be sentenced on Dec. 19 and faces the same maximum penalty as Stroupe.
Amaya was engaged and had a one-year-old daughter named Mia at the time of his death, according to a GoFundMe page established by his uncle.
